Stay on track or not

When it comes to very competitive career paths, most talented and hard working people don't see their journey through; one of the main reason is belief. I know a lot of people who dropped their dreams of becoming a professional football player, because there are alot of people that are pursuing the same thing — they believed they won't succeed. Some dropped their dreams of becoming a renowned recording artist because there are a lot of musicians out there, but only few are renowned — they stopped believing they could be one of the renowned ones. A friend of mine, once went for an acting audition and saw the crowd there, two months later, he dropped his dreams of becoming an actor. He didn't believe that he could make it anymore. There are alot of statistics and circumstances that can make one stop believing that he/she is special enough to be amongst the chosen ones. But the fact is that no Profesional athlete, musician or actor knew that he/she was going t

That wasn't my best school day.

I had washed and hung my only remaining shirt on the line, the previous day. I had three school shirts, two had been stole. I returned to the line, I couldn't find my last shirt. I searched until I started crying. I was in SS1. The next day was Monday. I hid my self when the school bell ranged. When our hall master came to lock the hostel, I took a dry shirt from the line and left for class. I had planned to wash and return it back to the line. I also left with some money for new shirt. I was headed to buy another shirt when the owner of the shirt saw me. "Hey, you! That's my shirt you're putting on," Obi said, before he reached for my throat. "So you're the theif that stole my clothes from the line." I explained to him what happened and begged him to forgive me, but he refused and said he will report me to our form mistress. He ordered me to follow him. He reached to adjust his collar as he was bouncing in front of me. I suddenly saw my

You never know what's next

"Hope everyone is ready, as we are about to start the second section," the human resource lady said. "You all know the rules, if you get below 50 in this section you will be leaving the hall." I was sitting next to Ikenna. We were worried, and started discussing because the questions we wrote in the first section, only made references to American culture, places, weather, food and acronyms -- with no reference to anything Nigerian or the Nigerian company we were writing about. The questions were all online, from an American job recruitment portal. We were wondered if they actually uses the test. "Shut up am trying to concentrate," a fellow applicant said. "In this 21st century, that you people can't answer questions filled with American lifestyle. Well it's not your type that they need." Ikenna and myself were so humiliated that we didn't say anything to him. The second test was over, we both barely scored above 50. "Yo

Networking

Networking is the action or process of interacting with others to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts — Oxford dictionary. You can network in any place or area you found yourself; you can also network in any form that you want. A brilliant student, can network with a sporty student. Both exchanging knowledges and ideas from their strengths to supplement each others weaknesses. An older person can network with a younger person; the old gives the young wisdom, while the young keeps him updated. A scientist and an artist can network, leading to learning  and appreciation of  their respective fields. They can also leverage the knowledge for their individual or collective growth. People in the same field can also network to make stronger individuals and to form great teams/partnership. Benefits of networking can not be over emphasized. Just keep connecting and networking.

Bar story

I was in a #bar, calming my nerves with alcohol.  A man at the table close by wanted to leave, he told his friend that they should leave. The friend reached for his pockets but couldn't find his phone. He became angry and loud. "Bia! No body will leave here today until I find my #iPhone," the man said, while blocking the door with a table. "Someone here thinks he can rob me and get away with it." He wanted to search everyone in the bar, one after the other. All of a sudden, another man stood up to leave, the #man that lost his phone, rushed him and asked him to go back and wait to be searched, he refused and asked the man to search him there so he can leave, that he has things to do. The argument heated until they started to fight. It was just like watching WWE live. Everyone started enjoying the show, while some tried to stop the fight. At last the fight ended. A waiter suddenly rushed out and showed the man an iPhone. The man rushed and grabbed the

The awesome friend

It was a sunny day. I was returning from holiday lesson. I was tired. A bike pulled over in front of me. "Ain't you going towards the red filling station?" A boy asked me. "Yes, I am." I replied him. He asked me to hop on his bike, so we could go. He told me that he attended  the same lesson center as I did, and that their family moved into our neighborhood earlier that same year. He ask me to wait for him in front of my house in the morning, so he could pick me up. We did same thing for days. One day he couldn't show. Back then we both had no phones. I decided to head to their house to find out what happened. I saw him by the road pushing the bike. The bike had spoilt on his way out. We took it to the mechanic shop. The mechanic was busy. He asked me to go, that he would join me when he finished with the repairs. I refused, insisting that I won't abandon him then that his bike was spoilt. We finished with the repairs and drove to the les

Always have a plan

Having a plan does not mean that you are not smart enough, or aware of what you're doing. Having a plan shows that you have a goal and don't want to miss it or deviate from it. It's a contingency incase something happens along the way to your goal. ... Uche and Uzo were on a bus returning from a program, Uche was fast asleep. "Uche stop sleeping, you might miss your stop. You know I stop before you, so I won't be there to wake you," Uzo said, while he tapped Uche. "I have a plan." Uche muttered. Few minutes later Uzo fell asleep too. Uche's phone rang, he woke up immediately; his stop was just a stone throw ahead. Uzo was still in the bus. Uzo, became worried — he had missed his stop. He over slept.  Uche laughed at home for missing his stop. "You know it's because someone called before your stop, that's why you didn't miss yours too, and now you're laughing at me." Uzo said.

Sharing resources among individuals

What is the best ways to ensure that resource sharing and distribution is done in a way that ensures transparency and fairness? .. A mother once gave her children one jiant meat to share amongst themselves. The children started to struggle on who would share and distribute to the rest to eat. They continued struggling until they began to fight. The mother came out, stopped the fight and asked what was the problem, and they told her. Their mother, then said, "the one who shares the meat will be the last to take." All the children refused to share, then the mother gave it to the last born to share, since he was going to be the last to benefit. ... The best method of resources sharing and distribution is when the least/last person to benefit becomes the person in charge of the process, ceteris paribus.
